CHS wins regular-season finale, claims half of Trico title

Bruins, La Center Wildcats go at it Saturday in Stevenson for Trico's No. 1 district seed

Columbia High edged Rochester, 2-1, here Thursday night to claim one half of the Trico Division's girls soccer championship.

On Saturday, the Bruins (8-2 in Trico, 9-5 overall) will face the co-champion La Center Wildcats (8-2, 10-4-1) in a SW Washington 1A League playoff at Stevenson High School to determine the Trico's No. 1 seed in next week's SW Washington District 4 playoff.

Saturday's match starts at 1 p.m.

The winner will earn the right to take on Evergreen Division champion Montesano next Wednesday in the district championship match at Doc Harris Stadium in Camas. Regardless of the outcome, both teams will advance to state tournament play.

The loser will have to travel to Tumwater on Monday to play Evergreen No. 3 Toledo/Winlock for a spot in Wednesday's third-place match in Camas. The winner of the Wednesday night match will qualify for state.
