Rep. Dan Newhouse was elected to the position of Republican Floor Leader by his Republican colleagues in the state House of Representatives.
As Floor Leader, Newhouse is responsible for developing and implementing floor strategy during legislative debate. In addition he is a member of the leadership team that sets legislative priorities and creates a plan to adopt policies supported by the caucus.
"I'm pleased to continue to be a part of this leadership team and honored by the confidence that has been entrusted to me by my colleagues," said Newhouse. "I look forward to working with Representative Richard DeBolt and the entire leadership team to lead the members of our caucus in Olympia this session."
"This is the great time to begin my new role. Providing property tax relief for Washingtonians has been a priority issue for our caucus for a long time," said Newhouse. "I'm thrilled to be in the position to help lead the fight on the floor of the House."
Newhouse also serves as ranking Republican on the Select Committee Environmental Health Committee, assistant ranking Republican on the Capital Budget Committee and is a member of the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee.
Newhouse is serving his third term in the House representing the 15th District. He is a lifetime resident of the Yakima Valley. Dan and his wife Carol have two children, Jensena and Devon.
