Vandals roll to victory over Pirates

The Greater Columbia B League wraps up 1B Division play this weekend with games that have a direct bearing on seeding for next week's Yakima Valley district tournament.

Among the four games to be played, the key matchup takes place Friday night in Klickitat, where the second-place Vandals (5-4 in GCB, 10-7 overall) host the third-place Trout Lake/Glenwood Mustangs (4-5, 7-9).

The last time the two teams met--Jan. 16 in Trout Lake--Klickitat escaped with a 33-32 win.

If it wins the rematch, Klickitat will clinch the division's No. 2 seed in the district tournament, which begins next Tuesday afternoon in Klickitat.

"We knew we were going to be in for a fight and we had some things we really wanted to work on, and we did," Cougars Coach Chris Barthlow said. "But when you go into their gym and you see the Gold Ball [state] championship trophy, you're kind of in awe as to what you're up against."
