Columbia Art Gallery in Hood River launches the year with a RED art show.
The public is invited to the festive artist reception on Friday, Jan. 12, from 6-8 p.m.
Gallery manager Catherine Kiewit says everything in the gallery will be RED. "Even the appetizers at the reception will be red."
The show features bright art to brighten the gloom in the dead of winter. According to Kiewit, "The entire gallery will be filled with art that features some shade of red -- red ceramics, red fiber art, art that's realistic, art that's abstract, glass, jewelry, watercolors, oil paintings. You name it. If it comes in a shade of red, it qualifies to be in the show."
She added, "It's amazing just how much diversity there can be in the color red."
Participation in the show was open to more than 100 artists, including those involved with one or more of the shows in 2006, as well as those who show their work regularly at the gallery.
Kiewit said, "Be in for a big treat and for a very big dose of RED."
Due to the gallery's annual winter closure for cleaning and inventory check, this month's show will only be up for 16 days. Starting on Friday, Jan. 12, with the artist reception, it runs through Sunday, Jan. 28.
