Student art show gets underway

Show runs Feb. 6-24

During February, The Dalles Art Center will be overflowing with the entries for the middle and high school juried art shows.

Last year over 300 entries were received from throughout the Gorge area for the two shows, evidence of the strong interest in art among students.

The shows will be up Feb. 6-24 and are sponsored by Bank of Eastern Oregon, with awards from Kiwanis Club.

Students interested in entering their art work may pick up an entry form from The Dalles Art Center or through their school. Everyone is limited to one entry in the medium of their choice. Flat work must be ready to hang (please, no taped on string, it won't hold for the duration of the show) and be neatly presented.

Students should be in grades 6-12 and both reside and attend school in the mid-Columbia area to be eligible to enter their work.

Entries may be delivered to The Dalles Art Center between 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday Jan. 30 to Feb. 3.

All entries must be received by 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3.

There will be ribbons in many categories.

A closing Reception and Awards ceremony will be held Saturday, Feb. 24, from 3-4 p.m. Cash awards will be presented for "Best of Show," "Judge's Choice" and "Peoples' Choice" for both middle and high school. Everyone is welcome to attend and to vote for the Peoples' Choice Awards.
