Zachariah Stone, 18, Prosser, suffered injuries when he was involved in a one vehicle accident on July 2, 2007. The accident occurred at 9:40 a.m. on State Route 14 at milepost 139, 5 miles east of Roosevelt.
According to the report, Stone was westbound on SR 14, driving his 2003 Kia. He failed to negotiate a curve to the left. The vehicle onto the westbound shoulder. The driver overcorrected to the left. The vehicle spun around and went off the eastbound shoulder. The vehicle went down a ravine, through a Department of Transportation fence and came to rest on its wheels o the far side of the ravine, three fee from the railroad tracks.
Stone suffered head, hand and elbow lacerations. He was transported to Klickitat Valley Hospital in Goldendale.
He was cited for negligent driving.
A Stevenson man was injured in a two-vehicle accident on July 5, 2007. The accident occurred at approximately 4:20 p.m. on SR 14 at milepost 55, 10 miles east of Stevenson.
According to the report, Daron D. Aman, 19, Stevenson, was driving his 2003 Ford pickup westbound on SR 14. A 1997 Kenworth driven by Michael D. Seidlitz, 49, Stevenson, was traveling eastbound on SR 14. Aman's pickup crossed the centerline. The Kenworth moved over against the guard rail. The pickup's left front side struck the Kenworth's left front. Aman then lost control of his vehicle. It struck the guardrail and rolled onto its side.
Aman was transported to Skyline Hospital in White Salmon with a cut near his right eye and a swollen ankle. Seidlitz was not injured.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
Three Yakima residents died in a one-vehicle accident on July 7, 2007, at 12:30 a.m. The accident occured on SR 97 at milepost 28.9, 15 miles north of Goldendale.
According to the report, Sandra Acosta, 26, Yakimes, was driving her 1994 Nissan northbound on SR 97. The vehicle exited the roadway in a curve to the left. It crossed the centerline in a broadside skid, continued northbound in the southbound lane and exited the southbound roadway. The vehicle became airborne, striking a tree.
Acosta was pronounced dead at the scene. Also pronounced dead at the scene were Biana Galindo, 17, Yakima, and Joel I. Abondi, 10, Yakima.
