Condolences go out to the family of Pauline Kitchen. Pauline passed away a few days ago and her services were held Tuesday, March 27. She will be missed.
April will be a busy month so get your calendar out and mark some dates:
April 7 is the Lion's Club breakfast followed at 10 a.m. by an Easter Egg Hunt at Lyle Park Place.
April 8, Easter Sunday, there will be a Sonrise Service at 7:30 a.m. at the Lyle United Methodist Church followed by a breakfast prepared by the men of the congregation with the regular service following at 10 a.m.
April 13 and 14 is Lyle Community Clean-up Days.
April 21 the free movie at the Lyle Middle School will be Charlotte's Web with a new starting time of 7 p.m.
The Dallesport Elementary School presented "Seussical Jr." as this year's production. It played to a packed house both Friday and Saturday. You really should try to attend their next year's production as they always give outstanding performances.
Some Good Samaritan has cleaned up around the Welcome to Lyle Sign at the west end of town and it really looks nice. With the Community Clean-up Days coming soon this is an ideal time to spiff up around the entire community.
Churches in Lyle are Lyle United Methodist Church, 403 Klickitat St., and Lyle Celebration Center, 715 Washington St.
Early history of the Lyle area (author unknown) -- "The curiosity of the traveler who passes on either side of the river asking about the cement pillar on the island can be satisfied if you tell him this story."
"In Conclusion -- The summary of the Lewis and Clark expedition would be that the men were on the trip for two years and only one person was lost -- near the beginning one man died of what they assume was appendicitis."
