Join fellow volunteers for the Gifford Pinchot National Forest's ninth annual Pick Up the Pinchot (P.U.P!) in honor of National Public Land's Day.
This year's event is a great opportunity to get outdoors with friends or family and make a difference. Volunteers will join together and dedicate Saturday morning, Sept. 29, to remove bottles, cans, camping equipment and discarded appliances at two National Forest locations:
--Peterson Prairie Site: meet at Peterson Information Center, 9 a.m. at junction of Forest Service Road 24 and Forest Road 60
--Panther Creek Site: Panther Creek Horse Camp, 9 a.m. at junction of Forest Road 65 and Forest Road 17.
This year, Northwest Service Academy's volunteers (AmeriCorps) Stacey Wurster and Melissa Stanton will coordinate "Pick Up the Pinchot."
The event is sponsored by the Mt. Adams Ranger District Volunteer Program.
The valuable work of volunteer participants will be recognized with a thank you barbecue lunch celebration held after the clean-up at both locations.
In observance of National Public Lands Day, no fees will be charged at Northwest Forest Pass sites.
