A Goldendale man was killed in a two-car accident on Nov. 29, 2008. The accident occurred at 8 a.m. on State Route 97 at milepost 13.1, a half mile from Goldendale.
According to the report, David C. Holladay, 55, Goldendale, was driving his 1987 Nissan northbound on SR 97. The vehicle exited the roadway to the right, re-entered the roadway and rotated clockwise going into a broadside skid, crossing into the southbound lane. A 1991 Ford pickup driven by Francisco J. Michel, 38, Wenatchee, was traveling southbound on SR 97. The pickup struck the passenger side of the Nissan in the southbound lane.
Southbound traffic was diverted onto Scalehouse Road for four hours.
Holladay, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was deceased at the scene. Michel, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured.
A Yakima man was injured in a one-vehicle accident on Dec. 1, 2008. The accident occurred at 3:20 p.m. on SR 97 at milepost 12, just north of Goldendale.
According to the report, Florentino Martinez, 55, Yakima, was driving a 1994 Buick Lesabre northbound on SR 97. Martinez reached for a soda from the back seat. The vehicle went off the roadway to the east, rolled over, and come to rest on its top in a culvert.
Martinez suffered possible chest injury and was transported to Klickitat Valley Hospital by aid unit.
He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
