Students show off talent in annual juried art exhibit

Vote for People's Choice

The Dalles Art Center is currently exhibiting the annual Mid Columbia Middle and High School Juried Art Competition now through March 1.

Entries were received from 254 students representing 10 area schools for the show.

A wide variety of media, subjects and styles are included in this colorful and often thought provoking exhibit.

A closing reception and awards ceremony will be held Saturday, March 1, from 3-4 p.m.

Judging in a combined total of 18 categories was done for first through third place awards. Placing first in the high school included: Dave'y Renee Lumley and Amy Keithly, Glenwood High School.

Receiving "Best of Show" was Amy Keithly, Glenwood while "Judges' Choice" went to Cory Young, The Dalles.

In the Middle School competition, first place winners included: Jasmin Sanchez of Henkle Middle School; and Gunnar Hoodenpyl of Trout Lake School. Second place went to: Paige Stevenson, Jordan McClain, Hayden Gibson, Emma Ortiz of Henkle Middle School. Third place winners are: Zachary Tyler Ingram, Nakia Zeober, Maria Stadler, Sarah Gibson, Henkle.

"Best of Show" was awarded to Michelle Mershon, Cascade Locks School and "Judges' Choice" went to Jasmine Sanchez, Henkle Middle School.
