Klickitat eked out a 32-29 victory over Lyle/Wishram last Saturday for its first Greater Columbia B League victory of the 2007-08 season.
Tia Spino and Zoe Lindner each scored nine points to pace the Vandals, who trailed 8-7 after one quarter but came back to lead 15-14 at halftime.
Leading scorer Samantha Brewer and Kali Fargher, who played with a heavily taped sprained ankle, contributed five points apiece to the Klickitat cause.
For the Cougars, who remained winless in GCB play, Tosha Cloud turned in a solid, all-around game of 13 points, six rebounds and four assists.
Brittany Price added 10 points in the losing effort, and Teaera Churchwell chipped in with seven rebounds and six steals.
Trout Lake/Glenwood 61, at Yakama Tribal 48: Kellie Yarnell scored 19 points last Friday to lead the Eagle Mustangs to their first GCB win.
Stephanie Anderson added 13 points, Dave’y Lumley had 12 and Liz Vogt tallied 11 for TLG, which sewed up the win by outscoring Tribal, 28-22, after the halftime intermission.
Yakama’s Candace Eyle led all scorers with 28 points.
At Sunnyside Christian 80, Lyle/Wishram 14: The Knights held the Cougars scoreless in the second half of last Friday’s GCB game in which five Sunnyside players scored in double digits.
Lisa Donath and Tosha Cloud shared scoring honors for Lyle/Wishram with three points each.
The game left Cougars Coach Chris Barthlow wondering who in the GCB might challenge last season’s state Class 1B runner-up.
“I would have to say that they are going to make a run at the state title again this year,” he noted. “They are solid from the first person on the bench to the last.”
Sunnyside Christian, which led 43-14 at the half en route to its ninth win, made 35-of-65 field-goal attempts and 9-of-12 free throws overall.
Lyle/Wishram connected on just 6 of 22 from the floor and 1 of 2 from the foul line, though Barthlow was encouraged by the Cougars’ first-half effort.
“I thought we did a lot of good things in the first half of the game,” he said. “We ran our offense pretty good against them and got some good shots; they just limited us to one shot throughout the game when we had the ball.”
Riverside Christian 58, at Klickitat 20: The Vandals remained winless in GCB play with last Wednesday’s loss to the Crusaders.

For Riverside, Amy Van Beek and Molly Calhoun combined for 22 points.
