Buttressed by Ericka Ziegler's 24 points, 21 rebounds and four steals, Columbia High rebounded from its first SWW 1A Trico Division defeat by knocking off league foe Rochester, 59-43, there Jan. 15.
The Bruins, who improved to 5-1 in Trico standings (one game back of leader La Center in the loss column), took charge of the game in the third quarter.
After leading just 24-23 at the half, Columbia got down to business at both ends of the court and extended its lead to 44-26 after 24 minutes of play.
Adrianne DeLay made a pair of shots from long range, Ziegler netted seven points and Michelle McMillen tallied four to help the Bruins put some distance between themselves and the Warriors.
DeLay finished with four 3-point baskets and a career-high 16 points. Ziegler totaled eight baskets and converted 8-of-9 free throws on a night CHS shot a season-best 11 for 13 from the foul line.
Ziegler started out with the hot hand, sinking 4 of 4 at the line and scoring six points in the first quarter, yet Columbia entered the second period down 15-13.
The Bruins seized the lead in the second, however, as DeLay scored from behind the 3-point line for the second time and Ziegler, Lacey Kruse, Erica Clevidence and Shannon McNallan put in one field goal each.
