Report for Washington State Patrol



A Portland man was killed in a motorcycle accident on July 9, 2008, on State Route 14 at milepost 94, two miles east of Wishram. The accident occurred at approximately 3:35 p.m. and the westbound lane was closed for four hours.

According to the report, Gordon J. McDonald, 57, Portland, was riding his 1989 Harley Davidson westbound on SR 14. While illegally passing multiple vehicles, McDonald lost control of the motorcycle and it left the roadway on the westbound shoulder. The motorcycle rolled multiple times, ejecting McDonald.

John M. Eyrich, 48, Spokane, was not injured in his one-vehicle accident on July 9, 2008 at 6:36 p.m.. The accident occurred on SR 97, 20 miles north of Goldendale.

According to the report, Eyrich was driving a 1998 Peterbilt semi southbound on SR 97, approaching a sharp curve to the right. The semi crossed the centerline, striking the northbound guardrail. This caused the tractor and trailer to turn over in the northbound lane.

Eyrich was charged with negligent driving.
