Bus Transportation Available To College

Get a ride from Hood River to The Dalles

With the cost of gas rising quickly, students now have a new option for low-cost transit between Hood River and The Dalles.

Columbia Area Transit offers "fixed route" transportation from Hood River to The Dalles and back to Hood River. In June, the service expanded from its morning and evening routes to include a mid-day option. Buses stop at the Columbia Gorge Community College in The Dalles and, beginning with fall term classes Sept. 22, will also stop at the college campus in Hood River.

The cost of a ride is $3 each way.

The morning route starts at Columbia Area Transit Office, 600 East Marina Way, Hood River, at 6 a.m., arriving at the Building 4 parking lot on The Dalles campus (400 East Scenic Drive) of Columbia Gorge Community College at 6:35 a.m.

The bus then returns to Hood River, with stops along the way at The Dalles Transportation Center, Mosier Pocket Park, Hood River Hotel, Wal-Mart, Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital, Columbia Gorge Community College - Indian Creek Campus and Rosauers, arriving at Rosauers at 7:30 a.m.

The new mid-day route, which took effect June 17, begins at Rosauers in Hood River at noon, then stops at Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital, Wal-Mart and the Hood River Hotel before proceeding to The Dalles Transportation Center, then Columbia Gorge Community College at 12:53 p.m. and returning to Hood River, It reaches Rosauers in Hood River at 1:40 p.m., stopping along the way at CGCC - Indian Creek Campus. (The mid-day route does not stop at Mosier.)

The evening route begins at CGCC - Indian Creek Campus in Hood River at 4:55 p.m., with stops at Rosauers at 5 p.m., Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital, Wal-Mart, Hood River Hotel, Mosier, The Dalles Transportation Center, and CGCC - The Dalles campus at 5:55 p.m. The bus then returns to Hood River, reaching Columbia Area Transit Office at 6:25 p.m.
