Craft fair returns in October

Held at Hood River fairgrounds

The popular Gorge Fruit & Craft Fair will be held for the 12th time Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 18-19, at the park-like Hood River County Fairgrounds.

Celebrating the wonderful people and products of the Columbia River Gorge, the Gorge Fruit & Craft Fair features arts and crafts, gourmet food products, fresh fruit and produce, baked goods, wine, jewelry, furniture, plants and flowers, soft goods, and much more -- all grown or crafted in the Gorge. The Hood River County Fair Board organizes the event.

The fair is well known throughout the Northwest for serving up a relaxed atmosphere of country fun for everyone in the family, along with great food, wonderful crafts, displays and exhibits in a beautiful venue. As always, in addition to the wide selection of products and creations offered by exhibitors, the 2008 Gorge Fruit & Craft Fair features a full slate of special activities.

The Odell Garden Club will once again present its very popular annual autumn flower show and sale. Gardeners -- and all flower lovers -- may enjoy it throughout the weekend. The Hood River Art Club will host a gallery-style display and sale. The Columbia Gorge Fruit Growers will be on hand with fresh pears. Try delicious Gorge wines.

Enjoy music by the Gorge Strings from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday. There will be seasonal fun and treats for kids, too.

Looking for a truly special meal? Indian baked salmon dinners will be available, prepared in the traditional way and accompanied by delicious side dishes.

Gorge Fruit & Craft Fair exhibits will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

There is no admission charge, and parking is free.
