Gorge Grown Food Network to host harvest dinner

Celebration set for Sept. 14

Gorge Grown's annual Harvest Celebration is truly a unique event: an opportunity for our supporters, friends, and their families to celebrate the harvest at one of the region's family-run farms in Mosier with a bountiful dinner spread, beer and wine, and live music.

Not only that, but it's the only event you can attend that features a 100 percent local meal -- if it can be grown, raised, or processed here, it'll be on the family cookout-style menu.

The event will be held Sept. 14 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Idiot's Grace Farm and Orchard in Mosier.

Tickets are $25 for adults, $10 for kids 6 and up.

The menu will be family cookout style, with grilled meats from Mountain Shadow Natural Meats in Dufur and Lefever-Holbrook Ranch in Goldendale, and vegetable side dishes by local chefs featuring produce from several local Gorge farms. Plenty of vegetarian and vegan options too! Beer and wine will be provided by Double Mountain Brewery, Springhouse Cellars, McCormick Family Vineyards, and Phelps Creek Winery.

Musical acts will include the Hapa Hillbillies with Ben Bonham and Chigwaya, a local Zimbabwean-style youth marimba band.

All proceeds benefit Gorge Grown Food Network, whose mission is to build an economically and environmentally sound regional food system in the Columbia River Gorge, specifically in Hood River, Wasco, Sherman, Klickitat and Skamania counties.
