The White Salmon Valley School District's board of education will hold a public workshop tonight in the Columbia High School library to discuss the issues facing the district.
Tonight's workshop will start at 6 and be followed at 7 by the board's August business meeting.
An agenda for the public forum lists nine purposes for the review. They are the district's process for school improvement; Highly Capable Program; academic offerings for students who excel; music, drama and performing arts; school start time; foreign language offerings; planning process for district growth; format of school board meetings; and communication between the district and the community.
The regular meeting will focus on reports from Interim Supt. Jerry Lewis regarding the Columbia Virtual Academy; district technology; district and Educational Service District 112 teachers of the year; and district math curricula adoption.
Under action items, the board is expected to approve the district's 2009-10 Highly Capable Program grant, as well as the hiring of new personnel at Henkle Middle School and Whitson Elementary School.
Following the regular meeting, the board plans to adjourn into executive session to discuss real estate and personnel issues.
