Oregon Highway 26 east of Government Camp was closed for over 2 hours Wednesday morning after a commercial vehicle lost control on icy highway conditions and collided into a guardrail.
According to Oregon State Police (OSP) Senior Trooper Duane Larson, on Nov. 25, 2009, at approximately 7:30 a.m. a Safeway commercial truck pulling an unloaded semi-trailer was westbound on Highway 26 near milepost 61.
As it negotiated a downhill left curve on icy conditions, Michael Arthur Shields, 52, from Brightwood, Ore. lost control. The truck and trailer slid into the eastbound guardrail and came to a stop blocking all three lanes.
Shields was not injured.
OSP completed the investigation with the help of ODOT. No citations were issued.
