"Game Night" will be held this Friday, Dec. 18, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Activity Center. Everyone is welcome to join the fun of video and table games, from "Go Fish" to "Chess" as they listen to our local youth band. Anyone with old games or puzzles they no longer need, and wish to donate, may bring them to the center that evening or call Mildred at 365-0060 to drop them off.

Santa and The Grinch are coming! Santa will be brought by the Decorated Fire Trucks Caravan on Dec. 19 about 6:20 p.m. at the Lyle Park Place -- although this year it will be held indoors at the new Activity Center! Evryone is invited to come early and enjoy cocoa and treats, as well as music, both instrumental and vocal, performed by the high school band and choir. Later "The Grinch" will be the Free Movie offered in the secondary school multipurpose room at 7 p.m. This evening is hosted by Lyle Community Council, Lyle Secondary School and the OLESS. The Sundowners RV Club combined its monthly meeting and annual Christmas Party at the Lyle Grange Hall on Sunday. A large turkey dinner with all the trimmings along with the usual potluck was enjoyed by all that attended and several groans of full happy bellies were heard. After clean up, those who could stay gathered around separate tables and either played cards or Mexican Train.

The Who's Who of Lyle attended and enjoyed the camaraderie of their peers at the Lyle Hotel's Open House on Sunday evening. The staff was seen scrambling for chairs to seat the multitude that gathered for an evening's enjoyment of music and complimentary appetizers.

As we count our blessing this Christmas season, let's open our hearts to those less fortunate by donating to a favorite charity either financially or physically. Sometimes just a visit to patients at your local hospital can do wonders for their spirit...and yours.

The "2009 Lyle Christmas Bird Count" needs volunteers to count birds and record species around Lyle for the 13th annual Christmas count that is one of 2500 Christmas counts happening nation-wide. Interested people should contact Bob Hansen at (509) 637-2736 or If you have a bird feeder, you can also participate by observing the feeder.
