This week several of our "volunteers" spent a cold wet day working in the boiler room at the Activity Center on leaking, decrepit pipes. They were able to dismantle the pipes and call a plumber in to repair them stop the leak. The pressure was on to get this fixed for the game night and Santa's visit. THANKS to Vern, Roger, Don, Jack, Royce, Les and Mildred who served coffee and cookies.

A successful "2nd" Game Night was held Friday at the Lyle Activity Center. At least 20 young and old arrived to join in pinochle (rumor has it there was one wild pinochle tournament), work puzzles, play board and video games and have popcorn from the new mobile popcorn machine donated by Marcia Buser. There may be a game night on New Year's Eve. Watch for posters and e-mails and the Blog to see if it materializes.

The Santa Fire Truck Caravan arrived in town on time Saturday with 15 trucks in the caravan. But before they came the Activity Center was packed with many who came to enjoy the high school choir, several soloists and the jazz band perform. The Twin Bridges Museum was open and enjoyed by many new visitors. The council and the OLEES served cocoa and treats, Santa came inside out of the weather to hear the children's wishes. Firemen enjoyed the break and shared in the refreshments. This was the biggest night the center has seen this winter.

As you prepare for your Christmas celebration this week, pause to remember the reason we share this time with loved ones, the birth of our Savior.

Lyle Community Council will meet on Monday, Dec. 28, at 7 p.m.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. We will return in January.
