Underwood residents warned of burglaries

Investigations continuing

Skamania County Sheriff Dave Brown has notified residents of the Underwood area about another daytime burglary, which took place on Jan. 13.

According to Sheriff Brown, the location of the burglary was a residence off Davison Street, off Cooper.

"The break-in occurred between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., and the thieves broke in the back door," explained Underwood resident Sally Newell. "They went for the easy stuff and were probably in and out quickly. A handgun was taken, along with some electronics and jewelry."

Tim Counihan, a member of the Underwood Community Council, urged community residents to take precautions.

"As per guidance we received last year from our local law enforcement officers when we had burglaries occur, please consider locking your homes and cars when unattended, and please look for unfamiliar or suspicious persons or activity in our community," Counihan said.

Last April and May, several Underwood homes were burglarized.

The Skamania County Sheriff's Office is continuing its investigation.
