Columbia High earned its first SWW 1A Trico Division girls basketball victory last Friday, 52-36, with a solid four quarters of effort at Kalama.
Lacey Kruse led the way for the Bruins (1-2, 7-5) with 27 points and 16 rebounds. The senior center scored 12 points in the second quarter and 18 in the first half to help CHS establish a 25-17 halftime advantage.
In the third quarter, Kruse put in seven points and Adrianne DeLay tallied five of her six as the Bruins pushed their lead into double digits, where it stayed for the rest of the game.
Columbia finished off Kalama (0-3, 0-10) in the fourth quarter by sinking 7-of-10 free throws—3 for 4 by Michelle McMillen and 2 of 2 by Laurel Huth. For the game, the Bruins were 16 of 23 at the foul line.
