Summer swishing right by

Glenwood News for July 23

By the

A rodeo bible camp held in Goldendale recently helped several young people from Glenwood gain skills in both timed and rough stock events. The camp was geared to help fifth through 12th graders learn and/or improve on their favorite events. A rodeo was held the last day of each camp session so the participants could try out their new, improved talents. Jaylin and Jonathon Throop attended the early Junior Camp, while Dakota Jones participated in the later Senior Camp. Sounds like a fun opportunity for the youngsters!

Dakota Jones also went to a volleyball camp in Longview last week. The camp was organized by the volleyball coach from Lower Columbia Community College; and helped Dakota hone up her volleyball skills.

Summer is swishing right by us...Oops looks like camping reservations needed to be mailed to the fair office by July 17. Deadlines for other fair entries are as follows: horse, livestock, team penning, branding and ranch cutting entry forms need to be mailed by July 31. Ranch sorting entries must be postmarked by Aug. 3 and Klickitat County team roping entries are to be mailed by Aug. 14. Of course, still life entries need to be delivered to the fair grounds from noon to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18.

The Glenwood Rodeo Association has scheduled its annual Fun Day (horse playday) for Sunday, Aug. 16. A 4-H state qualifying show will begin at 9 a.m. followed by the open playday at 1 p.m. Food concessions will be available on the grounds too, so be sure to plan to attend this fun event. If you would like to volunteer to work or have questions; please contact Elizabeth Jones at 364-3336 or Marlene Dewey at 364-4146.

Condolences are extended to the Nile Garrett family after the recent death of their wife, mother and grandmother, Sue.

Kyle and Kristin (Scott) Wilson's son, Kaden Michael, arrived on July 16. The little guy weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces at birth. Kaden's older sister, Katherine, was anxiously awaiting his arrival in Walla Walla!

Several community members are wished speedy recoveries: Ralph Sturgeon and Katherine Steinbach recently took falls that have them feeling under the weather. Jeanette Clemmer and Martin Samuelson are having surgeries this week; and we hope both go well. Amy Burgin sustained a sports injury last week, and we hope she's feeling better soon, too!

If you have items to share, please contact Terry at 364-3371. Thanks!
