There are a couple of upcoming events to mark on your calendar for the month of March:
The annual Mt. Adams Snowmobile Club Chili Feed is scheduled for March 14 at the Island Camp shelter. Activities planned for the day include enjoying a ride on the spring snow; serving chili, burgers and hotdogs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; the chance to catch up on your visiting around a great fire; a 50/50 drawing at 3 followed by a club meeting at 3:30. The public is invited to enjoy this fun event. Those interested in joining the Mt. Adams Snowmobile Club are encouraged to become members. Be sure to support the Annual Firemen's Dinner to be held at the school on Saturday, March 21 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. An all-you-can-eat turkey dinner with all of the fixins' will be served at the school for $8/adults and $5/children 12 and under. This is a great opportunity to support your local volunteer fire department while enjoying a delicious turkey dinner. For questions regarding the feast, please call Carol Guinn at 364-3443.
Joe and Amy (Hendricks) Utter were excited to welcome their first child into the world on Feb. 9. Rylan James Utter weighed 8 pounds, 2 ounces and was 19.5 inches long at birth in Southwest Washington Medical Center in Vancouver. Rylan's grandparents are Doug and Marvina Randle of Glenwood; William and Patti Hendricks from Mesa, Ariz.; and Bruce and Darla Utter from Vancouver. Rylan is the older cousin to Anthony Keith Avila who was born four and a half hours later.
Anthony Keith Avila is the second child of Lori Wellenbrock and Jose R. Avila. Baby Anthony shares his cousin, Rylan Utter's, Feb. 9 birthday and weighed 6 pounds, 10 ounces and was 20 inches at birth. Anthony joins older sister, Jayla, 22 months, at home. Anthony's grandparents are Howard (Bun) and Anita Wellenbrock of Glenwood; and Tereso and Ermilo Avila, Mezquital, del Oro Zac, Mexico. Congratulations to both families on the arrivals of the little cousins.
Our condolences are extended to Mary Jo Bauerle's family after the recent death of her mother, Catherine Graves.
Glenwood Grange 94 will install new officers for the new year at its meeting on Friday, March 13, 2009, at 6 p.m. Pinchole will follow.
