Prosecutor Reports On Cases

From Klickitat County Superior Court

The following defendants appeared in Klickitat County Superior Court:

Asa Russell Berry, 58, White Salmon, pleaded guilty to sexual misconduct with a minor in the first degree and was sentenced to 12 months incarceration and 12 months of community custody. Berry was ordered to have no contact with victim, undergo HIV testing, undergo sex offender evaluation and treatment, register as a sex offender and pay $2,193 in fines and costs plus victim restitution to be determined later.

Jesse Vernell Bybee, 50, Portland, pleaded guilty to assault in the second degree and was sentenced to five months incarceration with the final 30 days to be served in work crew and 12 months community custody. He was ordered to have no contact with the victim, forfeit a firearm and pay $1,550 in fines and costs and victim restitution to be determined later.

Jason J.Gonzales, 42, Goldendale, pleaded guilty to attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle and driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and was sentenced to two months on the first count and 365 days with 305 days suspended on the second count and 12 months community on the second count. Gonzales was ordered to undergo evaluation and treatment for substance abuse, and ordered to pay $2,701 in fines and costs.

Geoffrey Jay Poteete, 22, Goldendale, pleaded guilty to delivery of marijuana and possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and was sentenced to 6 months on each count and serve 12 months of community custody. Poteete was ordered to undergo evaluation and treatment for substance abuse and pay $3,001 in fines and costs.

Oscar Manuel Garcia, 25, Hood River, pleaded guilty to escape from community custody and was sentenced to two months incarceration and ordered to pay $1,505 in fines and costs.

Alejandro Ortega Espino, 33, Federal Way, pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine and was sentenced to 51 days incarceration and 12 months community custody. Ortega was ordered to undergo evaluation and treatment for substance abuse and pay $2,772 in fines and costs.

Michael Richard Hulme, 38, Lyle, pleaded guilty to assault in the fourth degree and disorderly conduct and was sentenced to 365 days with 315 days suspended on the first count and 90 days with 40 suspended on the second count and ordered to undergo 12 months of active misdemeanor probation. Hulme was ordered to continue in his current treatment program, have no contact with the victim and pay $1,810 in fines and costs
