Open house, tree giveaway on Arbor Day

Event to be held at Park Center

Have you ever wondered what Conservation Districts do? Did you know they exist? Or maybe you thought Underwood Conservation District only served Underwood?

Underwood Conservation District actually encompasses the portion of Klickitat County west of the Klickitat River, except Bingen, and all of Skamania County, except Stevenson.

The District provides a variety of conservation services to landowners including technical assistance, project planning, and educational programs.

If you are interested in learning more, join Underwood Conservation District (UCD) for its 2009 tree giveaway and open house on Wednesday, April 8.

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the office in the Park Center Building in White Salmon and the Skamania County Chamber of Commerce in downtown Stevenson.

A variety of tree seedlings will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, up to 10 seedlings per person.

Since 1882, Arbor Day has been celebrated across the country in recognition of the importance of trees and forests in our everyday lives.
