Soroptimist International of Mt. Adams is hosting its fifth annual pre-holiday "shopping extravaganza" on Sunday, Nov. 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Best Western Hood River Inn Gorge Room.
The event will feature Gorge and Portland area artisans exhibiting holiday gift items of jewelry, metal art, alpaca garments, pottery, glassware, paintings, cards, and more.
"We're excited to be back for our fifth year and really appreciate the returning and new artisans. Their beautiful items are just fantastic and made with such creativity and quality. Each year just keeps growing and getting better," said Ginger Swanson, an event coordinator. "These are all small businesses from the Gorge and Portland with unique products that will fit any budget. The artisans also generously donate ten percent of their sales, as well as items for a fantastic raffle at the end of the day, to Soroptimist of Mt. Adams. We're so appreciative of their support of our projects to improve the lives of women and girls."
Soroptimist is an international volunteer service organization for business and professional women who work to improve the lives of women and girls, in local communities and throughout the world.
"This event is not just a sale. With the festive atmosphere, it's a holiday event. The artisans offer such unique products and give people the opportunity to shop locally for one-of-a-kind, affordable gifts. We hope that people will come from all over to support these small businesses and Soroptimist, and have a great time doing it," said Kathleen O'Connor-McNew, a Mt. Adams club member and sales manager at the Best Western Hood River Inn.
The Best Western Hood River Inn is showing Soroptimist its continuing support by donating use of the space for the event.
