The Lyle United Methodist Church's "Homecoming and Gospel Celebration" had music bouncing off the walls and floating on the wind. Last Sunday, the congregation opened its doors to share its joy in the renovations of the fellowship hall. Several local talented singers and musicians joined the festivities, which encouraged a lot of foot tapping, and background rhythmic clapping from the occupants of the filled pews. The intermission of the celebration found the congregation sharing a catered luncheon. Great music, great food, great fellowship, great day!

Attention all princesses and pirates, angels and astronauts... Lyle's Community Council and Secondary School are planning a "Pumpkin Prowl Party" for the local children, Halloween Day, Saturday, Nov. 31. There will be a Pumpkin Hunt and a Costume Contest (ages infant through 6th grade) starting at 3 p.m., at the Lyle Park Place with prizes and refreshments. Then later, at 6 p.m., all are invited to the school's multipurpose room for a movie "The Nightmare before Christmas." The party ends when the movie is over. Please do not leave parents unattended. This family outing of fun and frolic is free.

The Pretenders Theatre Company is presenting "Happy Anniversary, Angel! Love, Gino" as this year's production. Dates and times for this "dinner and a play" evening is Fridays and Saturdays, Nov. 6, 7, 13 and 14. It will again be held at the Columbia Grange Hall, off Lyle's Old Highway 8. This year's dinner will be a fine Italian lasagna dinner provided by Beneventi's Restaurant. And, as it will have a no host wine bar by Marshal's Winery, it will be for mature audiences only. Must be 18 years old. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and show starts at 7. Tickets can be purchased at Klindt's Book Store, Lyle Country Cafe and Beneventi's Restaurant.

The Lyle Activity Center will host this year's annual Lyle Ladies Holiday Bazaar on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 13 and 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you wish to have a table or have questions, contact Laurece Bonham at 365-2011 or Sandy Doolin 365-4485.

Elections will be held at the Nov. 26 Lyle Community Council meeting. Running for council positions are Terry Mills, Mildred Lykens and Juliet Pouillon.

We can begin reaching out to others by sharing a smile, an encouraging word, a chance to laugh.
