Halloween afternoon you can take part in the Pumpkin Prowl party at the playground at 3 p.m. this includes a costume contest for the young spooks and goblins from the ages of infants thru 6th grade. Then you can watch a free movie at the multipurpose room at the high school at 6 p.m.

Just a reminder...you need to change your clock (fall back) Halloween night so that you will be on time for church on Sunday.

Then there are several things to remember for November:

Saturday, Nov. 7, is the Lion's Club Breakfast. The best deal in town!

The Pretenders Dinner Theatre will be the first and second weekends of November. You can purchase tickets at the Country Cafe and Klindt's Booksellers in The Dalles or Beneventi's Restaurant in Bingen. If you haven't had the opportunity to enjoy an evening with the Pretenders this is your chance. Lots of good fun!

The annual Lyle Ladies Holiday Bazaar will be held Friday and Saturday, Nov. 13 and 14, at the Lyle Activity Center, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. For table prices or other information contact Laurece Bonham at 365-2011 or Sandy Doolin 365-4485.

Those running for council positions are Terry Mills, Mildred Lykens and Juliet Pouillon. Elections will be held at the November meeting.

Good news: The Country Cafe is now open for dinners. The hours are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to 2p.m. on Sundays. There will be one dinner special each evening in addition to the regular menu. Dave and Rose have moved back to Lyle and are happy to be able to offer the extended hours to their schedule.

Excerpts from The Enterprise, Feb. 14, 1941; "County Commissioner John S. Robinson of District No.1 of Klickitat county, which covers the West end of the county, stated on Wednesday that extensive repair work was being done by the county on the Lyle-Klickitat road."

"The work is being done, three miles north of Lyle, where widening of the narrow, winding road is in progress. The road construction consists of straightening three bad places in the road and widening of the same. The construction has been placed into three separate projects with work being done by WPA. A total of 40 men are on the road building project, which totals a distance altogether about 1 mile."
