Winter adventure at Discovery Center

Something special for kids

Winter vacation is coming, and while parents shop, kids will be looking for something special to do.

On Monday, Dec. 20, the Discovery Center offers "A Winter Adventure at the Museum," a fun holiday workshop for elementary students.

Kids will learn how adventurers navigate with orienteering skills, and how to start a campfire 1800's-style on an outdoor cookout.

Additional activities include making holiday crafts, a visit with native wildlife, a scavenger hunt, and more.

The morning session, for children in first to third grades, is from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The afternoon session, for those in fourth to sixth grades, is from 12:30 to 4 p.m.

Registration is required.

Workshop fee is $20, $15 for members. Lunch is provided.

Call Linda Turner of the U.S. Forest Service at 541-296-8600 ext. 204 for registration and further information.
