The 14th Annual H.U.G.S. (Help Us Grow Safely) Children's Health and Safety Fair for youth will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Henkle Middle School in White Salmon on March 6.
This free event is open to all area youths and their families. It is sponsored by Henkle Middle School A.S.B. and Project Open Door, WSU-Klickitat County Extension, the Klickitat County Public Health Department, Skamania-Klickitat Community Network and Safe Kids Columbia Gorge Coalition.
Many educational booths, giveaways and demonstrations will focus on fun and healthy opportunities and activities in our area. There will be music, entertainment, special guests, traditional displays, new exhibits and much more. As always, local businesses have donated a wide variety of door prizes to give away.
New at this year's H.U.G.S fair, the Safe Kids Columbia Gorge Coalition will sponsor car seat examinations using trained technicians. Those interested in having car seats inspected for safety and correct installation should look for special signage at the H.U.G.S. fair directing them where to drive their car for inspection. This service will be free.
Youth can participate in the popular "passport" activity and earn a special prize by getting their passport stamped by participating exhibitors. Many exhibitors will have hands-on activities for youth and the passport opportunity rewards youth for getting actively involved at the H.U.G.S. Fair.
