Bingen has council vacancy

No interest yet shown

Th Bingen City Council is still one member short, and no one has shown any interest in the job to date.

During the Jan. 5 meeting of the City Council, City Administrator Jan Brending advised the council that there have been no applications for the open position on the five-member board.

"We've had no one apply," Brending said.

She requested that the position be advertised until it is filled.

"We'll put no deadline on it," Brending explained.

The seat was left vacant when former council member Betty Barnes was elected to the mayor's office in the November 2009 general election.

To qualify to serve on the Bingen City Council, a candidate must be a registered voter in the city of Bingen and must have lived within the city limits for at least one year.

Brending pointed out that a letter of interest and a resume should be submitted to Bingen City Hall, 112 N. Ash Street, or sent via mail to P.O. Box 607, Bingen, Wash., 98605.

The candidate ultimately selected will serve through Dec. 31, 2011.
