Glenwood was well-represented at the Goldendale Rodeo Bible Camp last week. The Fellowship of Christian Cowboys sponsored the camp that was held at the Klickitat County Fairgrounds arena. The camp was split into two age groups seniors (grades 9-12), and juniors (grades 5-8.)

Jaylin Throop and Dakota Jones attended the senior camp from July 18 through 21. Wednesday evening there was a rodeo for all camp attendees to showcase their new or improved skills. Jaylin won a beautiful buckle for top team roping header; and Dakota won the heeler's buckle. Dakota also won a horseshoe plaque for most-improved breakaway roper. Dakota went back for the junior camp and helped as a counselor.

Junior campers from Glenwood included Kyle Dean, Jonathon Throop, Madi and Baylee Couch and the Couch children's friend Caden Blankenship. The junior camp ran from Friday through Sunday, July 25. At the end-of-camp rodeo, Kyle won a most-improved bull rider (think calves here) plaque. Jonathon received the most-improved heeler plaque; and he won the heeler buckle at the rodeo. Madi Couch participated in poles, while Baylee and Caden rode bulls (again, think calves.)

Lauren Hoodenpyl from Trout Lake earned the All-Around Cowgirl title at the Bible Camp. She has competed on the Goldendale Equestrian Team as well. Congratulations to Lauren and each of the participants on their success at the Goldendale Rodeo Bible Camp!

Elizabeth Jones reported that the camp organizers "did a wonderful job with the kids; and the Glenwood kids did really well."

Remember the Fun Play Day at the Glenwood Rodeo Grounds on Saturday, Aug. 7, beginning at 10 a.m. For questions, contact Marlene Dewey, 364-4146, or Elizabeth Jones, 364-3336.
