Prosecutor Reports On Court Cases

The following defendants appeared in the Superior Court of Klickitat County on Klickitat County on March 15, 2010:

Edgar Jesus Cuellar Peralta, 22, of Vancouver, pled guilty to possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver and was sentenced to 12 months and one day in state prison. The defendant must pay all standard court costs totaling $1,950 including $250 to the Klickitat County Sheriff's Office Drug Fund and a $1,000 mandatory fund. The defendant will be under the supervision of the Department of Corrections for 12 months after his release from custody. During that time the defendant must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and any recommended treatment. The defendant is also facing deportation proceedings.

Marcus Anthony Hamilton, 18, of Bingen, pled guilty to burglary in the second degree and was sentenced to nine months in the county jail. The defendant must pay all standard court costs totaling $1,783 including $250 to the Bingen-White Salmon Police Department Investigation Fund and $500 in jail costs. The defendant must pay restitution to three separate victims in amounts to be determined at a later hearing and may not have any contact with them for 10 years.

Jenice Rachelle Gates, 32, of Goldendale, pled guilty to theft in the second degree and was sentenced to 30 days in the county jail. The defendant must pay all standard court costs totaling $1,790 including $250 to the Goldendale Police Department Investigation Fund and $500 in jail costs. The defendant must also pay restitution to the victim in an amount to be determined at a later hearing and may not have contact with that victim for five years.

Katherine Sue McLoud, 53, of White Salmon, pled guilty to attempted forgery and was sentenced to 15 days of community service. The defendant must pay all standard court costs totaling $950 including $250 to the Bingen-White Salmon Investigation Fund and restitution to the victim in an amount to be determined at a later hearing. The defendant will be under the supervision of the Department of Corrections for 12 months and may not have contact with the victim for two years.

Chad Allen Hayes, 23, of Ford, pled guilty to trafficking in stolen property in the second degree, unlawful possession of a firearm in the second degree, and attempted bail jumping. The defendant was sentenced to four months in the county jail. The defendant must pay all standard court costs totaling $3,468 including $250 to the Sheriff's Office Investigation Fund, $1,500 in jail costs, and restitution to the victim in an amount to be determined at a later hearing. The defendant will be on probation for 12 months after his release from custody and may not have contact with the victim for five years.

Dean Allen Bromley, 18, of Goldendale, pled guilty to unlawful possession of a firearm in the second degree and was sentenced to six months in the county jail. The defendant must pay all standard court costs totaling $1,910 including $250 to the Sheriff's Office Investigation Fund, $500 in jail costs, and restitution to the victims of a related theft in an amount to be determined at a later hearing. The defendant must also forfeit the firearm that was recovered to the sheriff's office.

Edgar Ceballos-Piceno, 18, of White Salmon, pled guilty to attempted possession of methamphetamine and was sentenced to 30 days on the county work crew. The defendant must pay all standard court costs totaling $2,227 including $250 to the Bingen-White Salmon Police Department Investigation Fund and a mandatory $1,000 fine. The defendant will be on probation for 12 months during which time he must obtain a substance abuse evaluation and successfully complete any recommended treatment.

Jesus Orlando Compean Lugo, 22, of Silverton, Ore., pled guilty to possession of methamphetamine and driving while license suspended in the third degree. The defendant was sentenced to 30 days in the county jail and must pay standard court costs totaling $2,632.50 including $500 in jail costs and a mandatory $1,000 fine. The defendant will be under the supervision of the Department of Corrections for 12 months after his release from custody. During that time the defendant must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and successfully complete any recommended treatment. The defendant also faces deportation proceedings.

Stanley David Waltz, 19, of Goldendale, pled guilty to assault in the fourth degree -- domestic violence and was sentenced to three days in the county jail and 12 days of work crew. The defendant must pay all standard court costs totaling $1,200 including $250 to the Goldendale Police Department Investigation Fund and restitution to the victim in an amount to be determined at a later hearing. The defendant will be under the supervision of the Department of Corrections for 24 months during which time he must obtain a domestic violence evaluation and successfully complete any recommended treatment. The defendant may not have any contact with the victim for two years.

Lars Andrew Melvin Jensen, 32, of Goldendale, went to a restitution hearing to determine the amount of money that he must pay the victim of a theft in the first degree that he pled guilty to on Sept. 21, 2009. The court ordered that the defendant must pay $12,515 to the victim, Lamar Auto Wrecking of Goldendale.

The following juvenile appeared in the Superior Court on March 11, 2010:

A 17 year old female from White Salmon pled guilty to malicious mischief in the third degree and was sentenced to 16 hours of community service and will be under the supervision of the Juvenile Department for six months. The juvenile must pay all standard court costs including restitution to the victim totaling $204.73.
