Miss Jocee Jo Hoctor arrived early Sunday morning, April 25, 2010,at Oregon Health Science University in Portland, Ore. The little one who was born about a month early weighed in at 4 pounds 15 ounces and was 18.5 inches long. Her proud parents are Josh and Jaecee Hoctor. Grandparents include Vicky Ramsay, Doug Ramsay, Keith and Susan Kreps, and Dennis Hoctor. We are all looking forward to welcoming the precious little girl into our community. Congratulations, Josh and Jaecee!

For the last Sweet Thursday until fall, why not plan to join the women from the Pioneer Memorial Community Church (PMCC) for an old fashioned tea? Bring your favorite pretty tea cup, and your daughters or granddaughters. Community members are invited to attend the tea that will begin at 6:30 p.m. on May 6.

The PMCC youth group is planning a yard sale and pancake feed for Saturday, May 15, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. If you have some gently used items that you would like to donate, please bring them to the church or parsonage before May 15. Or, if you are looking to find a treasure, be sure to shop at the yard sale. Proceeds from this fundraiser will be used to send youth group members to conferences and Winter Camp.

Plan to attend the Glenwood Grange meeting Monday, May 10, at the Pioneer Senior Center in White Salmon at 1 p.m., following the senior lunch.

Glenwood Grange members are preparing for a memorial service at the Mt. Adams Cemetery on Monday, May 31, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. This grange chapter is now 120 years young! A service for former member, Frank Ward and others who have gone before us will be the order of the day. In addition, Jerry Throop will receive a certificate in recognition of his 50 years as a grange member. Coffee and cookies will be provided; and we're all hoping for a beautiful day for this event!

Tryouts for the 2011 Ketchum Kalf Rodeo Queen are already being planned. If you are interested in vying for the title -- please notify Roxie Clemmer at (509) 364-3539 before June 1. Qualifications include being 14 to 19 years of age by Jan. 1, 2010, and a resident of Klickitat County. Tryouts will be held throughout the weekend at this year's Ketchum Kalf Rodeo, Father's Day weekend, June 19 and 20 at the Glenwood Rodeo Grounds.
