Prosecutor Reports On Court Cases

In Klickitat County Superior Court

The following defendants appeared in the Superior Court of Klickitat County between March 29 and April 19, 2010:

Matthew Frank Mowatt, 19, of Goldendale, plead guilty to four counts of burglary in the second degree and was sentenced to 57 months in state prison. The defendant must pay all standard court costs totaling $2,190 including $250 to the Goldendale Police Department Investigation Fund and $500 in jail costs. The defendant must also pay restitution to Father's House Fellowship Church, Little Chalet Car Wash, Finer Things, the Goldendale Swimming Pool, Allyn's Building Center, the Goldendale Liquor Store, the Goldendale Little League, and the General Store in amounts to be determined at later hearings. The defendant is not allowed to have contact with any of those businesses for 10 years.

Mayira Balencia, 24, of White Salmon, was terminated from the drug court program after failing to successfully abide by the terms of her participation. A bench trial was conducted in which the defendant was found guilty of delivery of a controlled substance -- methamphetamine. The defendant was sentenced to 12 months and one day in state prison. The defendant must pay all standard court costs totaling $3,000 including a $2,000 mandatory fine. The defendant will be on 12 months of supervision by the Department of Corrections upon her release from prison. During that time the defendant must obtain a substance abuse evaluation and undergo any recommended treatment.

Jackson George, 26, of Wapato, plead guilty to vehicular assault while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, and driving while license suspended in the first degree after the commencement of a jury trial. The defendant was sentenced to 15 months in state prison. The defendant must pay all standard court costs totaling $1,800 including $1,000 in emergency response costs. The defendant must also pay restitution to the two victims in amounts to be determined at later hearings. The defendant will be under the supervision of the Department of Corrections for 18 months after his release from prison. During that time the defendant must obtain a substance abuse evaluation and undergo any recommended treatment.

Christina Marie Sitherwood, 31, of Goldendale, plead guilty to bail jumping and theft in the third degree and was sentenced to 20 days in the county jail. The defendant must pay all standard court costs totaling $2,110 including $250 to the Goldendale Police Department Investigation Fund, $500 in jail costs, and restitution to the victim in an amount to be determined at a later hearing. The defendant will be on 24 months of probation.

Sydney Rae Bellamy, 19, of Dallesport, plead guilty to animal cruelty in the second degree and was sentenced to 14 days in jail. The defendant must pay all standard court costs totaling $1,432 including $250 to the Klickitat County Sheriff's Office Investigation Fund and $280 in jail costs. The defendant will be on probation for 24 months.

Phillip John Griffin, 45, of Portland, plead guilty to delivery of a controlled substance -- marijuana and was sentenced to 39 days in jail. The defendant must pay all standard court costs totaling $3,765 including $250 to the Klickitat County Sheriff's Office Drug Fund, $500 in jail costs, and a $2,000 mandatory fine. The defendant will be on 12 months of supervision by the Department of Corrections during which time he must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and any recommended treatment.

David James Woodruff, 45, of Klickitat, plead guilty to resisting arrest and obstructing a law enforcement officer and was sentenced to 30 days in jail. The defendant must pay all standard court costs totaling $1,660 including $250 to the Klickitat County Sheriff's Department Investigation Fund and $500 in jail costs. The defendant will be on probation for 12 months.
