Reading at Gorge college

Mother writes about son

On Thursday, June 3, Columbia Gorge Community College will host a reading by Judy Shepard, author of The Meaning of Matthew, a book about her son Matthew Shepard.

This will take place at noon at the CGCC Hood River Indian Creek Campus.

Most people know the horrific details of 21-year old college student Matthew Shepard's murder in Laramie, Wyo., 10 years ago. The Meaning of Matthew follows the Shepard family in the days immediately after the crime.

Judy Shepard is co-founder of the Matthew Shepard Foundation, which is dedicated to social justice, diversity awareness and education, and equality for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people. Shepard speaks around the country on behalf of the foundation.

This reading is free and open to the public.
