Report for Washington State Patrol

An Auburn man suffered injuries following a one-vehicle accident on May 19, 2010, at approximately 11:35 p.m. The accident occurred on State Route 14 at milepost 19.75, 1.25 miles from the Skamania County line.

According to the report, Robert W. Thornton, 42, Auburn, was driving his 1997 Freight semi truck and trailer eastbound on SR 14. The semi crossed over the centerline, leaving the roadway to the left. The vehicle then struck a dirt embankment and re-entered the roadway. The vehicle crossed back to the eastbound shoulder, striking the guardrail and coming to rest in a jackknifed position, blocking both lanes.

Thornton suffered lacerations and blunt force trauma to his face and head. He was transported to Southwest Washington Medical Center in Vancouver.
