Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident on Sept. 28, 2010, at approximately 1 p.m. The accident occurred on State Route 14 at milepost 71, five miles east of Bingen.

According to the report, Virginia Chapman, 66, White Salmon, was yielding her 2000 Dodge Durango to oncoming traffic, making a left turn onto old Highway 8. A 2000 Toyota 4 Runner, driven by Christopher L. Lampien, 22, White Salmon, failed to yield and struck the Durango in the rear.

Chapman was not injured in the accident. Lampien suffered neck and back injuries and was transported by ambulance to Skyline Hospital in White Salmon.

Opal E. Mills, 86, White Salmon, a passenger in Chapman's vehicle, also suffered neck and back injuries, and was also transported to Skyline Hospital by ambulance.

Lampien was charged with failure to yield.

Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident on Oct. 1, 2010, at approximately 1:40 p.m. The accident occurred on SR 14 at milepost 58.7, 12 miles east of Stevenson.

According to the report, Rhonda R. Vogt, 62, Lyle, was driving her 2004 Dodge Dakota pickup eastbound on SR 14. The pickup crossed over the centerline into the westbound lane, in front of a 1991 Ford F250 pickup driven by Katie L. Jackson, 22, Hood River. The two vehicles collided head-on in the westbound lane.

Vogt suffered head and back injuries and was taken by Life Flight to Southwest Washington Medical Center in Vancouver.

Jackson had right hip and knee pain and was transported to SWMC in Vancouver.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Two people were injured in a log truck/car accident Oct. 4, 2010, at approximately 12:34 p.m. The accident occurred on SR 14 at milepost 60.3, six miles west of White Salmon.

According to the report, Frederick S. Hodgen, 68, Walla Walla, was driving his 2008 Honda CRV eastbound on SR 14. Daniel J. Urmanski, 37, Woodland, was driving his empty 2006 Kenworth log truck with a bunked trailer westbound on SR 14. The log truck crossed over the westbound fogline and collided with a tunnel, causing a piece of the trailer to be dislocated from the truck. The trailer piece landed in the eastbound lane on top of the Honda.

Frederick Hodgen had chest pain and was transported by aid car to Southwest Washington Medical Center in Vancouver. His passenger, Marilee J. Hodgen, 65, Walla Wall, suffered leg and shoulder injury and was also transported by aid to SWWMC.

Urmanski was not injured.

The accident is still under investigation.
