Well, like it or not, the holidays are fast approaching and that means it's almost time for the Holiday Market. Mark your calendar for the weekend of Dec. 4; the Market will again be held at the Trout Lake School. This is a fantastic place to do your holiday shopping as local artisans and crafters are there with all their wares and you can take care of your entire holiday gift list in one fell swoop! Vendors contact Laurie Sherburne at 395-2294 or 395-2571 for information. Keep your eye on this column for more news as the date draws near.
The Third Tuesday Suppers are beginning again at the Presbyterian Fellowship Hall. These are wonderful gatherings which feature a speaker with an interesting topic. The Oct. 19 speaker was Jim White and the program was "Stargazing In Trout Lake." The suppers are potluck with a structured menu; contact Cheryl Hysmith at 395-2207 to find out what dish is needed to complete this week's menu. The meal starts at 6 p.m., followed by the speaker; all are welcome.
Trout Lake Area Business Association has had a successful year, raising over $3,000 for distribution to community charities and service groups. If your group would like to be considered for a grant, please submit your proposal by Oct. 31 to TLABA treasurer Bev Meyer at email@example.com, or mail it to TLABA, PO Box 394, Trout Lake, WA 98650. With thanks to Dave Wampler for his talents and expertise, the TLABA has also produced a local business directory and map which is being distributed at local businesses and tourist locations. The next TLABA meeting will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, at the Trout Lake Grange.
Your Trout Lake Fire Department is earnestly seeking folks to increase their Emergency Medical Team. One member has recently moved to the Snowden area, which leaves our team short handed. If this is a venture that would interest you, please call Eric Schmid 541-490-6609 to get additional information. Trout Lake is privileged to have top notch Fire Fighters who work hard to keep up-to-date with the latest training, equipment and information; we cannot thank them enough.
Election Day is Nov. 2 and local community council members will be elected here, at the Grange Hall between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. Please don't forget to stop and cast your ballot on this important day. These three are running for community council positions: Frank Childs, Jeff Baker and Monica Morris. Anyone interested in running for office may contact Monte Pearson to obtain an election form, 395-2421.
A huge vote of thanks to Deb Faast for the positively fantastic murals that she has painted and installed in the Grange. Both the women's and the men's bathrooms are now beautifully decorated. Wow, what a job. Thank you, Deb!
