Once again it's time for the Worlds Greatest Rummage Sale -- Labor Day weekend, Sept. 3, 4. 5. 6, 7, the gates will open at 8 a.m. sharp. No early sales!!
There is a treasure trove of items that have been collected, saved and donated by members of the community. A team of at least 25 dedicated folks sort and price these items throughout the year, just so we can find the exact thing we've been looking for, to buy and take home and then donate it back year after next! This is the main fund raiser for the Trout Lake Community Foundation, which awards many scholarships to local residents every year. A worthy cause, a fun event and many, many treasures to be discovered.
School starts on Wednesday, Sept. 1, so look out for folks walking on the highway and for the school bus stopping on the road. Can't believe it's time for school already...where has the summer gone!?! Let's hope for a nice long, warm Indian Summer to enjoy this fall.
Congrats to Spencer Paxson, who's qualified for the 2010 Mountain Bike World Championships in Quebec, Canada, on Sept. 4. Next to the Olympics, this is the most significant off-road cycling event in the world, says Paxson. "Being selected to the National Team has kicked me into a new gear." Paxson will compete in the cross country discipline, which is recognized as an Olympic sport, with his eye on a shot at the Summer Olympics in London. Go Spencer!!
Saturday Market will be wrapping up this season on Sept. 4. It should be a bang up day, as the Rummage Sale will be going on as well. They have had a very good market season this year, with steady sales and a variety of vendors; we're looking forward to next year.
That's all for this month folks, enjoy September. Maxine Bulick, news writer.
