Long-time local attorney Robert Weisfield has announced he has retired from his private law office in Bingen effective Sept. 1.
Hood River law firm Wyers Haskell Davies & Dunn, PC has purchased the business and assumed uninterrupted operation of the practice.
Weisfield, who has also served as the elected Judge of Klickitat County West District Court in White Salmon since 1978, is running unopposed for another four-year term and will continue in his capacity as judge.
"I started in 1977 and have had a fulfilling career in private practice. I am at the age when I would like to retire from my part-time practice and am very happy that Wyers Haskell Davies & Dunn have purchased my practice and will continue to provide legal services from the Bingen location. Their five attorneys are all licensed to practice in Washington, and I believe their breadth of practice and experience will be beneficial to my clients, and to members of our communities on this side of the river as a whole," said Weisfield. "I am also very happy that my long-time legal assistant, Lorrie Knowles, will remain with them to help offer seamless legal services as they assume and build the practice. Lorrie has been with me over 12 years and knows the practice almost as well as I do. It's important to me and to her that our clients feel comfortable with the change, and she will be a huge asset in bridging the transition. I am confident that Wyers Haskell Davies & Dunn will be able to continue the level of service I have always tried to provide, and that is why I am recommending them to my clients. I appreciate the opportunity I've had to work with my clients, and it has been an honor and a pleasure to represent them over the years," he continued.
Teunis Wyers, principal shareholder of Wyers Haskell Davies & Dunn, expressed his excitement at the opportunity to purchase the practice.
"Bob and I have practiced law about the same amount of time and have, I believe, great mutual respect. It has been the goal of our firm to offer our legal services from a Washington location. I live in Gilmer Valley and one of my partners, Lesley Haskell, lives in Underwood. Our whole firm looks forward to the opportunity to expand our services to Washington residents and to formally join our community here in Klickitat County."
Wyers has served in the past as the attorney for the Port of Klickitat and has been active in the White Salmon-Bingen community for many years. He is currently a member of the Rotary Club, the Mt. Adams Chamber of Commerce, previously served on the Skyline Foundation Board, and currently serves as Chairman of the Community Pride spring cleanup.
Haskell is also an active member of our community and currently serves as legal counsel to the White Salmon Valley Education Foundation.
