An Oregon man escaped injury on Sept. 5, 2010, when his vehicle struck a power pole on State Route 141 at milepost 18, 6 miles south of Trout Lake. The accident occurred at approximately 1:56 p.m.
According to the report, William B. Sychowski, 68, Columbia City, Ore., was driving his 2006 Chevy van northbound on SR 141 when he fell asleep. The vehicle left the roadway to the northbound shoulder and collided with a power pole. The vehicle came to rest against the pole.
The roadway was fully blocked for approximately two hours and then opened to one lane of travel with DOT doing traffic control for the PUD crews repairing the pole.
Sychowski was charged with negligent driving.
A Camas man suffered injuries when he was involved in a two-car accident on Sept. 3, 2010. The accident occurred at approximately 7 a.m. at the intersection of SR 14 and 97, 10 miles south of Goldendale.
According to the report, Paul E. Hansen, 58, Goldendale, was turning his 1995 Nissan Pathfinder left from a stop sign, onto SR 14 from SR 97. A 1996 Mazda Protege, driving by Melanie J. Gangle, 39, Camas, was traveling east on SR 14. The front of Hansen's vehicle and the passenger side of Gangle's vehicle collided in the eastbound lane.
Neither Hansen nor Gangle suffered injuries. James F. Dewey, 46, Camas, suffered lacerations to the head and was transported to Mid Columbia Medical Center in The Dalles.
Hansen was cited for failure to yield right of way.
