Gorge grown holds food forum

At Solstice in Bingen on April 9

Have you heard about Gorge Grown Food Network's 2nd Annual Food Forum yet?

It's coming up, Saturday, April 9, in White Salmon.

Food Forum is an event for folks in the Gorge to gather and exchange ideas and knowledge relevant to strengthening our regional food system.

Gorge Grown has a vision that 20 percent of what local residents eat will come from local sources by 2020. Food Forum is a piece of working toward this vision.

At Food Forum, there will be presentations, discussions, and hands-on workshops where you can learn more about what it will take to build a strong regional food system, connect with neighbors, and develop hands-on skills to apply at home, on the farm, and in the community.

Classes at this year's Food Forum include: Raw Milk and Kefir Making, Drip Irrigation Setup and Maintenance, Veggie Gardening 101, Health and Local Eating, Kitchen and Knife Basics, Food Preservation, Beekeeping, Composting, Backyard Chickens, Integrated Pest Management, and more.

All workshops and presentations are FREE -- and lunch will be available for $10 from Solstice Wood Fire Cafe.
