On Friday, Dec. 16, the time has been changed to 10 a.m. for residents to gather and "Deck the Halls" with traditional ornaments to adorn the Lyle Activity Center and pavilion in honor of Santa's arrival later that evening from 6:45 to 7:30 p.m.. He will be escorted by the Klickitat County's Decorated Fire Truck Caravan and Sheriff Patrol cars to listen to each child's request. The Twin Bridges Museum and the OLESS group will serve cocoa and homemade cookies to one and all, so bring your camera for that once in a lifetime shot of your little one with dear old St. Nick.

The Lady Sundowners gathered for the monthly luncheon at the Windseekers Restaurant in The Dalles. It was a great turn out and the table was buzzing from one end to the other as they shared family news.

The regular monthly meeting for the Sundowners was the Christmas Dinner held at the Columbia Grange Hall on Sunday with an almost full attendance. The club offered the main dishes while the members brought their favorite side dishes and desserts. A "C" Party was enjoyed by all -- Christmas dinner, coffee, cookies, cake, candy, cards, camaraderie, and conversation; all of which was adorned with Christmas spirit.

The United Methodist Church's Hope Project is experiencing more residents coming forth to receive a free bag of personal essentials. The church will be open and offering the bags again Saturday, Dec, 17, from 10 a.m. to noon. If you know of anyone that may need a bag containing a bar of soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, T.P, and deodorant please let them know that there are no forms to fill out or questions to answer. Just show up and collect your bag from the table near the basement door.

Gail Farris, administrative assistant at Dallesport Elementary School, is offering her service as a notary public to local residents for a $10 fee. Call 365-2162 or 767-1132 to schedule an appointment.

In this season of giving I would like to share with you something I came across. "The best thing to give to your enemy is forgiveness; an opponent, tolerance; a friend, your heart; your child, a good example; yourself, respect; all men, charity." By F.M. Balfour...sure sounds right to me.
