Students Earn Honor Roll Status

The list of students earning honor roll status for the first term of the 2011/2012 school year has been released. Those hard-working students are: sixth graders -- Madi Couch, Kyle Dean, Brittany McCoy and Forrest Putnam; seventh grader -- Colton Troh; eighth graders -- Baylee Couch, Reyauna Guzman and Bethany Putnam; freshmen -- Becca Hallenbeck, Tiffany McCoy and Ashley Sampson; sophomores -- Kenny Henderson and Jonathan Throop; junior -- Dakota Jones; and seniors -- Spencer Hallenbeck, Catherine Settler and Perry Wasgatt. Way to go!

The Glenwood School's annual Christmas Concert will begin at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 14, in the school gym. Immediately following the program, Santa will greet children and pass out candy canes. Meanwhile, the Glenwood Homemakers will be serving hot cocoa and cookies in the kitchen.

Driving into the Glenwood Valley after dark is getting to be more and more festive with each passing day as residents are putting up lights to show their Christmas spirit. The pretty colors and designs seem like a welcome-home sign as you arrive in Glenwood! Thanks for your efforts in transforming the landscape with your beautiful lights. Now...if only the snow will fall again, it will really seem like Christmas time in Glenwood!

Last call for the Scholastic Book Fair will be Thursday, Dec. 15, at 2:40 p.m. in the school library. Don't miss this chance to encourage good reading habits by giving books to the youngsters in your life!

The community is invited to attend the Pioneer Memorial Community Church's Children's Christmas Program on Sunday, Dec. 18, at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served following the children's performance.

Non-perishable food items for the community food boxes will be accepted at the school and church through Tuesday, Dec. 20.

Dec. 15: Glenwood middle school basketball vs. Centerville at home, 5:30 p.m.

Dec. 16: TLG basketball vs. King's Way Christian at Vancouver, 4:30 p.m.

Dec. 21: TLG basketball Alumni Game at Trout Lake, 6 p.m.

Dec. 22: PMCC Community Christmas caroling, 5 p.m. with finger foods/cocoa at the church afterwards.

Dec. 24: PMCC Christmas Eve Service, 7 p.m.

Dec. 25: PMCC Christmas Day Service, 11 a.m.
