Oak Ridge paving nixed

Not in the county budget

In the 2011 county budget approved last week, the Klickitat County Commissioners decided not to approve funding for the paving of Oak Ridge Road.

County Commissioner David Sauter said there are significant reductions from the preliminary paving proposals for next year because the commissioners decided they could not justify taking funds out of the county's reserves. Not allowing the use of reserve funds reduced the amount of money available to use for road paving in the county by $3.1 million for 2011.

As a result, plans for paving Oak Ridge Road in the Husum area have been pushed back to either 2012 or 2013.
