Gorge Bluegrass festival lands big names

Kicks off Thursday

The days are counting down to the 2011 Columbia Gorge Bluegrass Festival.

The event boasts some of the biggest stars in bluegrass -- Seldom Scene, Dry Branch Fire Squad, John Reischman and the Jaybirds, and Prairie Flyer. They join Sugar Pine, Town Mountain, and the Bluegrass Regulators for the 28th annual event, July 21-24, on the Skamania County Fairgrounds in Stevenson.

Look for the 2011 Show to carry on the traditions that make this festival one of the best Bluegrass events in the Northwest.

Long-time fans welcome back the Thursday night Jammers Jamboree, Friday's Country Dance with the Caleb Clauder Country Band, and Saturday's Dance with the Buckles.

Again, the event features instrument contests, guitar raffle, workshops for all ages including the Chick Rose Kids' Academy, and jamming throughout.

Visitors will be treated to an assortment of fine craft and music related booths, delicious food, coffee and espresso, and micro brew beers, too.

New this year, the Festival officially kicks off Thursday, July 21, at 4:30 p.m. with a buffet dinner, Tex-Mex style. Look for great tasting fare catered by Outlaw BBQ and live entertainment, while supporting a great cause-a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Stevenson High School Band program.
