Glenwood News for June 2

By the

Tom Eldred is retiring after 41 years of teaching at the Glenwood School. He will be honored with a retirement party on June 5 from noon to 3 p.m. in the multipurpose room. A potluck luncheon is planned and everyone is invited to attend and reminisce about Mr. Eldred's years at the Glenwood School. Best wishes for a healthy, happy and long retirement, Tom!

The Feller family would like to thank the Glenwood Fire Department, homemakers, family and friends from Glenwood and the surrounding area for their outstanding support and love. Everyone's kindness is deeply appreciated by the Feller family.

Congratulations to Harvey Starr on qualifying at the district track meet to compete at the state track meet in Cheney on May 27 and 28. Word around town is that Harvey qualified in pole vaulting and relay races. Harvey is at the state track meet as I write this article, so I'll simply say I hope you had a great weekend at state, Harvey! Results will follow next week. Harvey is a senior at Glenwood High School, and is the son of Billy and Alta Valdez.

For those interested in running for Glenwood school board positions, you must file your Declaration of Candidacy with the Klickitat County Auditor's office by June 10, 2011.

Due to the outbreak of equine herpes virus in and around the Northwest, the Klickitat Trek Endurance Ride that was scheduled in Glenwood for June 3 through 5 has been postponed. In an effort to keep our area's horses safe, the Glenwood Rodeo Grounds is off-limits to all horses until further notice.
