All-school class reunions were held in Glenwood on May 28. One group of 40 alumni enjoyed a potluck lunch at the Glenwood Grange. Bob and Wendy Lewis and Dorothy Erickson, who had been instrumental in instigating the reunion, travelled from Utah. Bob and Dorothy who graduated in 1954 and 1956 respectively -- had not seen many of the attendees since they graduated. Roy Bolt, who graduated in 1941, celebrated his 88th birthday during the reunion as well. Others travelled from Vancouver, Portland, Goldendale, Issaquah and Yakima to attend the get-together at the Grange.
The Glenwood rodeo dance hall was the site for the other all-school class reunion on May 28. That reunion was organized by Darlene (Hathaway) Schrank with assistance from alumni who contacted their former classmates. The dance hall was filled with GHS graduates and guests who enjoyed a great potluck meal and music by DJ Brian Whitefield. A lot of visiting, reminiscing and laughter took place during the reunion; and the consensus was that the group should plan another reunion for next year. Anyone interested in organizing a future reunion can contact Joanne (Hathaway) Roe at 364-3352.
Memorial Day was celebrated at the Mt. Adams Cemetery with cookies and coffee provided by the Glenwood Grange. The cemetery looked wonderful with brightly colored flowers and flags blowing in the breeze. The Glenwood Women's Club places flags on veterans' graves for Memorial Day to honor those who served our country. A special thank you goes to Bill and Kelly Henderson and Pam Keithly for the wonderful job they do in caring for the Mt. Adams Cemetery!
Tom Eldred was honored with a retirement party at the school on June 5. The potluck dinner was well attended; and, several colleagues and former students recounted memories of Mr. Eldred. Best wishes for a wonderful retirement, Tom!
